I realise that I haven’t been sharing any of my own DIY creations so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. Oisin turned three a couple of weeks ago so I decided I’d make some birthday bunting for him. I came across a very easy tutorial on Ruffled – a blog I love! You can find the tutorial here. I printed mine on canvas – only because we have a printer that can print on canvas and I thought it might last a little longer – but these would look equally cool printed on heavy card or photo paper. I was really happy with the results & Oisin seemed very impressed too!! What do you think?

Here are another few ideas for using bunting. The first one is a free download from How About Orange for compliment bunting. It’s such a great idea! We all love to get compliments, so the next time you want to tell someone how fab or superb they are, just surprise them with a little bunting garland!

I thought these next two would look amazing at a wedding or some other special occasion. I love the muted pastel tones of the first – it adds a somewhat nostalgic and vintage feel. The colourful bird bunting is just so beautiful and happy looking – I fell in love with it the second I saw it! It is made by the wonderfully talented people at Cake Ink.

These bunting cake toppers and decorations add a lovely celebratory feel. The garland on the first cake is made with vintage wallpaper – very cool idea! Etsy has heaps of cake bunting for sale or if you’re feeling inspired you could craft some yourself…Happy crafting. See you soon.

Some time back I posted a link to a free download for a Vintage Key Invitation Suite. Since then I have come across some seriously cool ideas on how to incorporate vintage keys into your wedding, so I thought I’d share some of them with you today on this lovely sunny Thursday.

I love the Keys to a Happy Marriage idea! When guests arrive at the reception they get to write a message on a little tag and attach it to a vintage key. These could then be hung from a tree or branch or a wall designed specifically for the keys.

These Vintage Key Place Settings would make for gorgeous wedding detail shots (us photographers are always on the lookout for lovely details!) and beautiful little mementos for your guests to take home, so you’ve got your wedding favours sorted too!

But the prize for the sweetest use of vintage keys has to go to Wedding Bubbles in a Jar - what a wonderful idea…

If you tune back in next week, I’ll be sharing some ideas on displaying vintage keys in your home – just in case you have a few left over after your wedding! If you have any other ideas for using vintage keys at your wedding, please feel free to leave your comments below – I’d love to hear from you.

This beautiful hammered spoon would add a lovely romantic element to any wedding. It might be a bit time consuming to do one for all the guest’s place settings unless you’re having a very intimate affair – but it would work as a beautiful detail for the bride and groom’s place settings or for the table numbers….

You can see the complete tutorial over at Elizabeth Anne Designs. It was created by McKenzie Brickl of La La Soiree and Kate Sommers of KNG Sommers Photography.

Here’s a variation on the Love Letters to the Newlyweds theme. You can check out the other variation here. This one has more of a oldy-worldy feel to it, using vintage handkerchiefs as the inspiration. The letter writing sheets are printed to look like hankies, where the guests can write their love letter to the bride & groom. These can then be displayed in whatever format suits your wedding style. I personally love the way they are displayed here hanging by pegs on some twine….

Once again, these were designed by the talented Amy Moss of Eat Drink Chic.

This is such an amazing DIY idea! Each guest receives a blank scroll so that they can write a little love note to the newlyweds. Once written, the note is deposited into a large jar labelled ‘Love Leters’ which forms part of the table centre piece. What a wonderfully personal keepsake to have forever! This idea was devised by the wonderfully talented Amy Moss of Eat Drink Chic. You can find the tutorial and all the downloads here on the OnceWed blog. Enjoy & have a great weekend.

Check out this very cool Tandem Bike invitation & response card. I love everything about this – the colours, the design & the quirky nature of it all. You can download them for free from the wonderful Love & Lavender blog. You get a template for a 5″ x 7″ invitation and a 3″ x 5″ response card. They used Bell MT and Bebas fonts. The Bebas font is available for free at www.dafont.com.

So many couples put a lot of love & thought into the music that they play on their wedding day…..so, when I came across this Printable Wedding CD Cover, I thought it would be the perfect way to share that music with the people you love & shared your day with. It would make a very personal wedding favour & a great way for your guests to remember your amazing day – every time they play the CD they’ll think of you!

Here’s a fantastic idea for a casual picnic style wedding – a cupcake in a jar! How cool is that? All the instructions can be found on the My Cakies blog. Enjoy! I came across it on Pinterest (my latest online addiction!) – described by the Pinterest people as ‘a place to catalogue the things you love’. I personally think of it as my (huge) online visual notebook which I visit every few days for some inspiration….it’s wonderful!
